Presentation of Professor Asif Hajiyev's Book “XX Century History of Literary Thoughts” was held in Azerbaijan University. The participants were informed about scientific and literary importance of the book in the presentation ceremony.

 Head of the department of the Azerbaijani language and literature, docent Ulviyye Ragimova notified that the book is very valuable scientific source for young philologists.

The author of the book, professor Asif Hajiyev noted that the book presented as manual, was included several manifests, concepts and memories about literary movements characterizing XX century literary process. Bringing to attention that the book was published by Azerbaijan University the author was grateful to the administration of university, editor and reviewers of the book.

Professor of Azerbaijan University Gorkhmaz Guliyev informed in his speech that the Azerbaijan literature fell in to the force-majeure twice since the middle of XIX century until nowadays. The first one related with the integration of our culture to the world culture from region context by occupation of Azerbaijan by Russia in the middle of XIX century. In this period Mirza Fatali Akhundov brought European culture to Azerbaijan in the name and concept level, included the genres belonging to European literature and philosophical idea into our literature, the readers heard the names of Shakespeare, Moliere or Walter, get introduced with the word «Critics» for the first time. The second force-majeure situation related with isolation of Azerbaijan culture from the world culture by torturing. Gorkhmaz Guliyev said: «By restoration of our independence we got opportunity to join the world culture again. However, it was clear that we had stayed behind in several spheres. It is impossible to abolish this backwardness in the name and concept level. Translating all the texts belonging to humanitarian thought created during these 70 years is very necessary». Gorkhmaz Guliyev emphasized that Asif Hajiyev's book is the first and very important step of introducing world culture samples to the Azerbaijan readers in the «text» form.

Professor Badirkhan Ahmedov, head of the department of Asian Literature in ANAS, Institute of Literature named after Nizami, noted that Azerbaijan University turned into the philological centre of the country with the ceremonies held by the staff of the Azerbaijani language and literature department.

Ahmed Sami Elaydi, Head of the Cultural and Educational Relations Center of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Azerbaijan brought into attention that he had been following Asif Hajiyev's works closely, emphasized the role of translation in relating the nations and cultures. Other speakers also notified the importance of the book for the scientific environment and thanked to the author for such a valuable work.
