An event dedicated to June 15, – the National Salvation Day was held at Azerbaijan University. It was noted at the online event organized by the Department of Social Sciences that June 15, 1993, was one of the most important days in the history of Azerbaijan, the beginning of a new page. It is a great socio-political-historical event that determines the present and future of Azerbaijan.

The Rector`s Adviser, Ph.D. in History Nushaba Guliyeva recalled the words of national leader Heydar Aliyev, “It is much more difficult to maintain and gain independence” and noted that June 15, 1993, was one of the most important days in the history of the Azerbaijani people. Azerbaijan regained its independence in 1991, was in danger of losing again about two years later. The national leader Heydar Aliyev, who came to power at the insistence of the people, saved our republic from this great danger on the threshold of the civil war.

In her report, Nushaba Guliyeva pointed out great work done by the great leader such as the reforms and innovations to prosper and cherish the country after salvation from the chaos and disputes. She also mentioned that the leadership qualities of President Ilham Aliyev, the political course defined by the national leader along with the people-state-army unity, and the successful continuation of this political course are the basis of the great historical victory we achieved with the “Iron Fist” operations.

Professor Gabil Aliyev - Head of the Department of Social Sciences had a speech on “Salvation Day - is the national leader Heydar Aliyev`s rescue of Azerbaijan from the threat of civil war.” The report of Farhad Madatov, Associate Professor of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, was dedicated to “the image Heydar Aliyev in modern Azerbaijani literature.”

University students – 4th-year history student Laman Jalalli made a report on “National leader Heydar Aliyev`s contribution to strengthening the independent Azerbaijani statehood,” and Social Work 2nd year student Aydan Humbatova made a poem-composition about Heydar Aliyev`s rescue mission.

In the end, a video dedicated to the National Salvation Day was shown.
