An event dedicated to "June 26th  - Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was held at Azerbaijan University. At the event organized by the Department of Social Sciences, information was given on the history of the establishment of the Armed Forces Day, the historical development path and stages of the national army in Azerbaijan, and the place and importance of the glorious victory gained by the Azerbaijan Army in the 44-day Patriotic War in the history of Azerbaijan.

The event started with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Yusif Gasimov, vice-rector of the university for scientific affairs, made an opening speech at the event. In his speech, the vice-rector reviewed the army building process in Azerbaijan from a historical perspective and noted that the creation of the Independent Corps on June 26, 1918 during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was one of the first and most important steps taken in the direction of the army building in the country. According to the tradition of historical succession, the day of the creation of this first regular military unit - June 26, was declared the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the decree of national leader Heydar Aliyev. In his speech, Yusif Gasimov also touched on the current processes in the field of army building in Azerbaijan. He said that the victorious Azerbaijan Army, supplied with the most modern military equipment, demonstrated its power to the whole world under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and restored the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. This is the biggest victory of the Azerbaijani army in the last 100 years.

Later, member of the Board of the Center for Social Studies, head of the Department of Internal Policy Analysis, professor Tahira Allahyarova "Military, Scientific, Technical Development of the Azerbaijan Army", head of the Department of Social Sciences, prof. Gabil Aliyev spoke on the topic "Great leader Heydar Aliyev and the modern Azerbaijani Army", lecturer of the department, Jabbar Mahmudov, spoke on the topic "The first steps of building a national army in Azerbaijan".

In the end, a video prepared by Aliya Hajiyeva, a second-year master's student majoring in ancient and medieval history of Azerbaijan, was shown.
