The first-year students of History Faculty of Azerbaijan University have been on an excursion in Gobustan National Historical-Artistic Reserve. On the excursion organised by the department of Social Sciences the students were led by the head of the department, professor Gabil Aliyev, teachers of the department Rashad Abbasli and Salman Ibishov.

The students first got acquainted with the museum which was constructed in the reserve. Visiting the halls of the museum and becoming familiar with the exhibits, the students were presented interesting facts, and they were given detailed information about Gobustan rock engravings, caves, and other archeological monuments which are the remembrances of ancient history of Azerbaijan.

After visiting the museum, teacher-student staff visually observed the drawings and images on the Gobustan rocks. The students were provided with detailed information about ancient history of Azerbaijan based on rock images in Gobustan.

It should be mentioned that Gobustan State Historical-Artistic Reserve was included into UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2007. Gobustan rock engravings  are considered the most substantial among the monuments of such kind in the world.
