Azerbaijan University marked September 27 – the Remembrance Day
An event dedicated to the 4th anniversary of the start of the Patriotic War and September 27 – the Remembrance Day was held at Azerbaijan University. The National Anthem was played at the event, and the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.
At the event, Yusif Gasimov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of Azerbaijan University; Elvin Talyshinski, Head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences; and Samir Humbatov, lecturer of the Department and head of the Center for Diplomatic Studies and International Relations, spoke about the causes and consequences of the Patriotic War, its role in Azerbaijan's internal and foreign policy, and the challenges Azerbaijan faced during the war. They emphasized the significance of establishing the Remembrance Day. The speeches noted that the countries that prolonged the resolution process during the ceasefire period continue to demonstrate double standards toward Azerbaijan today, posing new tasks for Azerbaijani science and education.
Guest speaker and military expert Lieutenant Colonel Elkhan Shikhaliev highlighted that Azerbaijan employed strategies and tactical approaches in the Patriotic War that are considered innovative in global military science. He pointed out that in just 44 days, with a model of warfare established by Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, based on the army and modern technologies, Azerbaijan forced Armenia to surrender. World military research centers are currently analyzing and studying Azerbaijan’s combat tactics in the Patriotic War. September 27, 2020, marks not only the beginning of the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity but also the revival of national pride and dignity.
Fourth-year Computer Engineering student Elvin Madinov spoke on behalf of Patriotic War participants. By decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Elvin Madinov was awarded the medals “For the Liberation of Fuzuli”, “For the Liberation of Jabrayil”, and “For the Liberation of Khojavand”.
