Azerbaijan University Prepares an Action Plan for the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty”
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated December 28, 2024, Azerbaijan University held an event dedicated to the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” in the country. The event focused on discussing the activities that will take place at the university as part of this initiative.
Opening the event with a welcoming speech, the Rector of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Philology, Saadat Aliyeva, emphasized the significance of the presidential decree and highlighted that the legal authority of Azerbaijan’s Constitution has now been fully established throughout the country. She noted that, as a result of the historic victory in the Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020, and the successful counter-terrorism operation conducted on September 19-20, 2023, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty have been completely restored. According to the Presidential Decree of September 19, 2024, September 20 has been officially designated as State Sovereignty Day in Azerbaijan. Furthermore, 2025 marks both the 30th anniversary of the adoption of Azerbaijan’s Constitution and the 5th anniversary of the victory in the Patriotic War.
In her address, the Rector stated that the events planned by Azerbaijan University throughout the year will contribute to the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty”. She expressed confidence that various initiatives at the University will play a vital role in strengthening national unity and fostering research on the historical processes that the nation has witnessed and participated in.
Following the Rector’s remarks, reports were presented by Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Dr. of Mathematical Sciences, Yusif GasImov, and Advisor to the Rector, PhD in History, Assoc. Prof. Nushaba Guliyeva, outlining the University’s action plan for the year.
The event continued with discussions, during which the Rector listened to proposals from the heads of structural divisions regarding the planned activities.
The meeting concluded with an open forum for further deliberation on the topic.
