A meeting with representatives of the Embassy of the USA was held at Azerbaijan University. The meeting was attended by the Rector of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Philology Saadat Aliyeva; Advisor to the Rector and Director of the International Center for Master’s and Doctoral Studies, Nushaba Guliyeva; head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Aygun Gasimova; head of the International Relations Department, Elmira Ismayilova; Embassy Press Attache Anthony Dean Tranchina; English language program coordinator Sabina Abdullayeva; and Fulbright English teaching assistant Jonae Spain.

During the meeting, the participants discussed international projects, internships, and exchange programs implemented between the United States and Azerbaijan in the fields of education and culture, as well as other matters of mutual interest. An exchange of views also took place regarding the development of cooperation and academic ties between the Embassy and the University.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to continue strengthening bilateral relations.

It should be noted that Jonae Spain joined the faculty of Azerbaijan University in the fall semester of the current academic year under the U.S. government-funded Fulbright international exchange program and is serving as an English teaching assistant at the Department of Foreign Languages.
