A cooperation agreement has been signed between Azerbaijan University and the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) International Ranking Agency. The document was signed by the Rector of Azerbaijan University, Saadat Aliyeva, and the Regional Director of the agency, Sergei Khristoliubov.
Before the signing ceremony, a meeting was held between the parties. During the meeting, the Rector of Azerbaijan University, Saadat Aliyeva, provided information to the guest about the activities of the university she leads, the programs offered, the faculty, the university's main strategic goals, innovations implemented in this direction, and the achievements attained.
The Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs, Yusif Qasimov, discussed the university's scientific activities and bibliometric indicators, highlighting the relevant metrics. The Vice Rector noted that just a few days ago, one of the world’s prestigious rankings, the "Shanghai Ranking," published the "Global Ranking of Academic Subjects." For the first time, Azerbaijan is represented in this ranking by two universities in the field of Mathematics. The highest position in the country’s ranking belongs to Azerbaijan University, which is placed between the 301st and 400th positions in the ranking.
The Rector's Advisor, Director of the International Master's and Doctoral Center, Nushaba Guliyeva, the Head of the International Relations Department, Elmira Ismayilova, and the Head of the Quality Assurance Department, Lala Abasova, provided information about the university's international relations and the efforts made in training young researchers.
Following the presentation about the university, Sergei Khristoliubov discussed the agency's activities in the scientific field, its products, the main criteria and methodology of the QS ranking, and the factors that higher education institutions should focus on when applying for the ranking.
The meeting continued with a discussion and exchange of views on the topic.
