The “Winter School of Social Work in Khankandi” has started its activities at the initiative and with the organization of the “Sosfera” Social Development Club operating under the Department of Social Work Organization at Azerbaijan University. In the winter school organized in the city of Khankandi, 52 students are participating, including 22 from Azerbaijan University and 30 from Karabakh University, as well as lecturers of the Department of Social Work Organization at Azerbaijan University Aykhan Shahbazsoy, Mariya Davidova, Sara Aghayeva, and social work specialist Emin Mammadov.

In addition to training on current topics of Social Work, the project program also includes excursions, visits to historical and cultural sites, as well as meetings with former internally displaced persons. The purpose of the four-day winter school is to expand students` knowledge and experience in the field of social work, strengthen the exchange of experience and the establishment of connections among participants, enrich the practical application of social work through visits to historical and cultural sites and informal experience, as well as to study the social situation of former internally displaced persons by establishing direct contact with them. The trainings, covering the current theoretical and practical aspects of social work, will also familiarize participants with the topics of preparation, implementation, and monitoring of social projects.

On the first day of the winter school, a city tour was organized for the participants, as well as a meeting with former internally displaced persons who resettled in the city of Khankandi. The day concluded with a training session on the topic “Professional Values and Ethical Principles in Social Work in the Post-Conflict Period”, conducted by Aykhan Shahbazsoy, lecturer of the Department of Social Work Organization.

The “Winter School of Social Work in Khankandi” will continue its activities in Shusha, Lachin, and Agdam. On the last day of the winter school, a visit to the Social Services Center located in the village of Guzanli of the Aghdam district is planned.
