Ministry of Justice holds information session at Azerbaijan University
The Ministry of Justice hosted an information session for students at Azerbaijan University, focusing on the recruitment process for judicial and justice authorities. The event aimed to encourage youth participation in the recruitment process and raise awareness about available career opportunities. Approximately 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students attended the session.
Opening the event, Yusif Gasimov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at Azerbaijan University, noted that the session would highlight recent updates to the recruitment process within the justice system. The Vice-Rector emphasized that these changes have expanded opportunities for University graduates across all majors to pursue careers in judicial bodies. He also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry's leadership for initiating the information session.
The session featured presentations by Laman Huseynzada, Head of the Press Service of the Ministry of Justice; Yagub Gurbanov, Deputy Head of the Probation Service; Sayyad Majidli, Head of Department at the Probation Service; Seymur Safarov, Deputy Head of the HR Department at the Ministry of Justice; Javad Javadli, Chairman of the Justice Volunteers Public Union. The speakers detailed the Ministry’s core activities, current job vacancies, admission regulations, as well as internship and volunteer programs, while particular emphasis was placed on recent reforms that eliminated specific qualification restrictions for positions within the probation and penitentiary services. Notably, the requirement for a law degree to work as a penitentiary officer has been lifted, opening applications to individuals with higher education degrees in any field of study.
During the session, students were briefed on the nature of the penitentiary officer profession, candidate requirements for various roles (including penitentiary officer, state penitentiary officer, and special penitentiary officer), and the implementation of the special execution system. The speakers also underscored the benefits of volunteer and internship programs, highlighting their crucial role in the professional development of young specialists.
The event specially highlighted the successful implementation of the tasks and action plan arising from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice and Azerbaijan University. This partnership stands as an exemplary model of collaboration between a higher education institution and a government body, yielding tangible results.
The interactive meeting concluded with a Q&A session, where Ministry officials addressed student inquiries and shared valuable career recommendations for those aspiring to join the justice system.
