New book by Azerbaijan University rector Saadat Aliyeva published
A new textbook titled American Children's Literature, co-authored by Saadat Aliyeva, Rector of Azerbaijan University and PhD in Philology, has been published. The other co-author of the book is prof. Shahin Khalilli, Doctor of Philological Sciences.
Intended for undergraduate students majoring in philology at higher education institutions, the textbook offers a comprehensive overview of the landscape of American children's literature. Special attention is given to Native American literature, with brief essays on the works of prominent authors, poetic examples from their writings, and materials contributed by renowned children's literature experts Olga Bukhina and Susan Zeder.
The textbook is structured into five chapters. The first chapter, which opens with a Native American lullaby, is dedicated to indigenous lullabies, poems, and legends. The second chapter explores American children's poetry. The third focuses on children's publishing, while the fourth chapter covers children's theater productions. The fifth chapter is about “Adult and children's literature”.
The new textbook “American children's literature” draws attention as a continuation of the authors' systematic efforts in this field. So, in 2018, they published British Children's Literature; in 2019, Robert Burns: a world woven with poetry, song bridge and words; and in 2021, British Children's Folklore.
