Discussion of educational programs organized at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

A meeting was held at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Azerbaijan University to discuss educational programs. Head of the Department Rashad Mastaliyev, the academic staff of the Department, head of the Quality Assurance Department Lala Abasova, head of the Training Department Leyla Agamaliyeva, dean of the Information and Communication Technology Faculty Asif Pashayev, dean of the Humanities Faculty Safar Mammadov, head of the Translation and philology Department Kaklik Gezalova attended the meeting. 

The head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Rashad Mastaliyev opened the meeting and brought to the attention of the participants the issues on the agenda. After that, the speech and discussions started. 

Lala Abasova, head of the Quality Assurance Department, noted that the discussion of educational programs and the preparation of syllabuses is one of the important elements of the training and education process. Lala Abasova emphasized that when designing educational programs, attention should be paid to the classification of elective disciplines, and important disciplines should be selected for the block. In this case, the programs must meet labor market challenges and demands while considering students' preferences.

Head of the Department of Translation and Philology, Kaklik Gezalova, stressed the importance of involving labor market representatives in the preparation of educational programs.  Asif Pashayev, dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies, mentioned that the standards of Information Security specialty was developed by the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan (AKTA) and transferred to all higher education institutions teaching this specialty. Opinions and suggestions of representatives of the labor market were taken into account in this process. It is also planned to organize meetings on other specialties. 

During the meeting, it was decided to hold further meetings on relevant specialties to align educational programs with labor market requirements, determine elective courses, and address other current issues.

It should be noted that the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science provides training in the specializations Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Engineering in bachelor's degree programs and Cybersecurity and Computer Engineering in master's degree programs.
