Student Youth Organization held an event dedicated to the Solidarity Day
The Student Youth Organization (SYO) of Azerbaijan University organized an event dedicated to December 31 - the World Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis. The event opened with the performance of the National Anthem, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence, restoration of territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
In addition to the official speeches, the program featured artistic performances and included a panel discussion.
During the official part of the event, speeches were delivered by Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of Azerbaijan University Yusif Gasimov; Chairman of the Union of Student Youth Organizations (ATGTI) of Azerbaijan Rashad Zeynalov; and SYO Chairman of Azerbaijan University Huseyn Rustamli. The speakers emphasized the historical, strategic, ideological, and spiritual significance of the Day, particularly highlighting the role of youth in preserving national unity and solidarity. It was noted that the Day of Solidarity was established out of historical necessity, and detailed information was presented on the historical events that laid the foundation for its observance. The speakers also underlined that the formal recognition of this significant date, its designation as a public holiday, and its celebration at the state level are associated with the name of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The artistic segment of the event featured performances of traditional dance and music presented by talented members of the SYOs of Azerbaijan University and the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.
The event concluded with a panel discussion entitled “State youth policy and contemporary youth”. During the discussion, Elvin Talyshinski, head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan University, and ATGTI Chairman Rashad Zeynalov responded to students’ questions and shared their perspectives on issues related to youth education, social engagement, personal development, and career opportunities.
