Next meeting of the “Voice of Books” Reading Club held in December
In December, the next meeting of the “Voice of Books” Reading Club, operating under the Department of Translation and Philology, was held. During the session organized at the University library, club members discussed “Cain” by Lord Byron, a prominent representative of English Romanticism.
The discussion featured a wide-ranging exchange of views on the key ideas and themes addressed in the work, including such philosophical issues as human free will, the concepts of obedience and rebellion, the pursuit of knowledge, and the relationship between God and humanity. It was emphasized that in Cain, Byron brings to the forefront the individual’s right to question, freedom of thought, and a critical approach to established norms.
The event was organized in an interactive format. Participants shared their interpretations, referring to selected excerpts from the work, and evaluated the character of Cain from various perspectives.
Serving as a significant contribution to the core objectives of the “Voice of Books” Student Club: namely, strengthening reading skills, promoting world literature, and fostering a culture of discussion, the event concluded with the traditional “Secret Santa” activity held on the occasion of the upcoming calendar New Year. By exchanging gifts, club members created a warm and friendly atmosphere and further reinforced their team spirit.
