Azerbaijan University has hosted the presentation of a newly established student club “Sossfera”, operating under the Department of Social Work Organization. During the event titled “One Laugh, One Hope”, participants were informed about the club’s main mission, the process of its establishment, and its future activity directions.

At the opening, the members of the club’s executive board were introduced. The audience was presented with the following team: Jansu Nazarova – Chair; Fuad Jabbarzada – Deputy Chair; Sabina Manafova, Mehriban Ibrahimli – Project Managers; Zarifa Manafova, Fidan Novruzova – Social Partnership Managers; Narmin Ismayil, Saran Ibrahimova – SMM Managers; and Zeynab Urfieva, Khuma Mammadova, Nigar Salimova – Student Affairs Department Managers.

The initiator and founder of “Sossfera”, lecturer Aykhan Shahbazov, as well as the Head of Department Nigar Shahhuseynbayova, delivered speeches highlighting the necessity of creating the Club, the process of its formation, and the active involvement of students in this initiative. Their remarks emphasized the Club’s contribution to the social sphere, the opportunities it provides for student development, and its strategic goals.

The next segment featured Amina Mammadova, a social worker, experienced specialist in the rehabilitation of children with special needs and the “School Friend” project. She addressed the questions “What is social work?” and “Rights and duties of a social worker”, engaging with students in a discussion on the societal significance of social work, professional ethical standards, and the importance of professionalism in this field.

Following this, Sabina Bayramova, psychologist-psychotherapist from the Turkish platform “Psychologist in my Home”, delivered a presentation on “The role of psychological services in Social Work”. She discussed the interrelation between psychology and social work, their respective roles in society, and their complementary professional functions.

It should be noted that the main objectives of the Club include promoting and advancing the “Social Work” specialty at Azerbaijan University and across the country, increasing interest among young people in this field, studying and applying international experience in social work, and establishing cooperation with local and foreign organizations active in this sector.
