An event, dedicated to the memory of world-famous political figure, architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijan state, National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev was held at Azerbaijan University. The guest of the event was Haji Abdullah, Head of the Country Projects Department at the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Prior to the event the university administration commemorated the nationwide leader at the Alley of Honors and laid flowers to his grave.

At the commemorative ceremony, it was noted that in the history of every nation there are geniuses that determine the fate and the path of happiness, leading the people behind themselves in the critical times and in the solution of the fateful issues. Heydar Aliyev, an architect and founder of modern independent Azerbaijan, is one of such great personalities. A great part of Azerbaijan’s most recent history is related to his name. The beginning of a new stage in the history of independence of Azerbaijan, is when the national leader came to power for the second time in 1993 with the insistent demand of the people.

It was stressed that the basis of the development strategy of the Azerbaijani state is the ideas of the national leader. Independent Azerbaijan has been successfully developing with the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev since 2003 as a worthy successor of the Heydar Aliyev School, strengthening its position in the international arena. For this reason, the memory is commemorated by the high esteem and gratitude of every Azerbaijani living in our country and beyond.
