Professor Asif Hajiyev was honored with the award “For Service to the Turkic World”
Professor Asif Hajiyev, Doctor of Philology and faculty member of the Department of Translation and Philology at Azerbaijan University, was honored with the 2025 award “For Service to the Turkic World” by the Valeh Hajilar International Scientific and Cultural Research Foundation, operating in Turkiye. The award was presented to Prof. Hajiyev in recognition of his research and scholarly works devoted to the Turkic language, Turkic history and culture, as well as for his significant contributions to the scientific, literary, and cultural development of the Turkic world.
It should be noted that the Valeh Hajilar International Scientific and Cultural Research Foundation was established in 2010 and named after the distinguished scholar Valeh Hajilar, who was of Borchaly origin. The Foundation’s primary objective is to support the promotion and study of the culture, history, and literature of Turkic peoples. To date, numerous important projects have been implemented in this field, international scientific and cultural events have been organized, and books and journals have been published. The founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation is Cengiz Alyılmaz, Professor at Bursa Uludağ University and a renowned turkologist.
In addition to Prof. Asif Hajiyev, the prestigious award was also presented to prominent philologists and scholars Badirkhan Ahmadli (Azerbaijan), İsenbike Togan (Turkiye), Onur Er (Turkiye), Orhan Aras (Turkiye), as well as to poets Rafig Hummat (Georgia) and Azer Sani Gafarov (Azerbaijan).
