World Social Work Day was celebrated at Azerbaijan University

Azerbaijan University hosted a traditional professional solidarity event on the occasion of World Social Work Day. The webinar "Strengthening Social Solidarity and Global Connectivity" organized by the "Empathy" club under the Department of Social Work was moderated by the chairman of the club and a second-year master's student in Youth Affairs Shalan Novruzov.

Shalan Novruzov noted that the World Social Work Day is dedicated to one theme every year, and in 2021, attention will be paid to the classic African philosophy "Ubuntu". Tunzala Verdiyeva, Head of the Department of Social Work, spoke about the teaching of social work in the world and in Azerbaijan, emphasizing that Azerbaijan University is the first private university to teach this specialty. In her speech, Maftuna Ismayilova, Deputy Head of the Adoption Department of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, noted that more than 60 percent of high-ranking specialists in social service institutions, ministries and agencies are graduates of Azerbaijan University.

Lamiya Rzayeva Ahmadli, a master's student in social protection from the University of Bonn, Rhein-Sleg, Germany, and a researcher at the International Institute for Sustainable Development, spoke about the beginning of the social work movement in Azerbaijan and the contribution of local and international organizations to the movement. thanked the participants of the event.

At the end, first-year master's students Elnur Suleymanzadeh made a presentation on "Ubuntu" and Asif Ibrahimli made a presentation on "Social Solidarity".

The event ended with a question and answer session.
