Our students got the first place in “ADR-100” knowledge competition
The knowledge competition on “Azerbaijan Democratic Republic-100” was held with the participation of Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “Let’s Learn and Teach Our History” Youth Club which is consisted of the students of Azerbaijan University, Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Baku Girls University and the students of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts who are doing their internship at the Foundation.
The questions were answered at the Competition where 5 teams consisted of the members of Youth Club, university students and trainees were participating.
With the decision of the jury the teams of Baku State University and Azerbaijan University got the 1st place, the team of Baku Girls University got 2nd place and team of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University got 3rd place.
Young participants met with the scientists and employees of the Foundation before the competition held in the Central Scientific Library of ANAS. Haji Abdulla, head of the department of local projects of the Foundation delivered opening speech and spoke of the orders of president on “ 100th Anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic” and declaring 2018 the 'Year of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic'.
He stated that, according to the said orders, more than 270 educational lectures, more than 100 local and international conferences, scientific seminars, roundtables and competitions have been held in the all regions of our country - in Heydar Aliyev Centres of 20 cities and districts, in 5 Youth Centres and in educational, cultural and industrial institutions in the framework of the project of Knowledge Foundation which is called “ Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan is our history and source of proud”. The Foundation informed participants about today’s reality of Azerbaijan and Ideologies of Democratic Republic in the events held in Turkey, Georgia and Ukraine. Members of Milli Mejlis, full and correspondent members of ANAS, professors and docents of higher schools, artistic peoples and journalists participated in the events held.
H. Abdulla who spoke of “Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: 100 questions, 100 answers”, scientific informational book published by the Foundation stated that up to 50 volumes of the said book have been given as gifts to the library.
The lecture by Anar Isgandarli, professor of Baku State University on the topic of “What did we get from “The year of Democratic Republic?” was listened in the meeting. Professor stated that Azerbaijan Democratic Republic existed only 23 months did great jobs in a short period of time and he gave information about some events realized after gaining the independence not during that period. He stressed out that, during the second independence years the oil of Baku was delivered to world market through Baku-Jeyhan International Oil Pipeline, numerous higher military schools were opened, the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan was adopted, Parliamentary elections were held, Latin alphabet started being used, agricultural issues were sorted out and the Memorial dedicated to the Caucasus Islamic Army of Ottoman Empire was opened.
Doctor of philosophy in Philology Elnare Aliyeva, an employee of the Foundation gave comprehensive information about the Club of “Let’s learn and teach our history” and said that students have been active and participated in different events this year as well.
