Azerbaijan University was represented in the 2nd Consecutive Translation Competition
Khayyam Asadov, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Business and Economics majoring in Business Management (English-medium education), represented Azerbaijan University in the final stage of the 2nd National Consecutive Translation Competition held at Khazar University. 8 finalists representing 4 universities of the Republic took part in the competition. The finalists of the competition were determined based on a three-stage selection.
The event started with opening speeches by Hamlet Isakhanly, founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, and Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova, Rector of the University. Then the participants, including Khayyam Asadov, translated live performances into English, Azerbaijani and Russian. The speakers were Vahid Asgari, an international business consultant, English language teaching specialist, PhD in Philology, and Gulafat Shafiyeva and Grigoriy Penkov, lecturers of Khazar University.
Vahid Asgari made a report on “Importance and skills of consecutive translation”. The speeches of Gulafat Shafiyeva and Grigoriy Penkov are dedicated to the prestigious COP 29 event to be held in Baku from November 11 to 22 this year.
The finalists were evaluated by a 7-member jury based on pre-defined criteria.
Khayyam Asadov was awarded a certificate for participating in the final stage.
