A memorandum of cooperation was signed between Azerbaijan University and the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. The memorandum was signed by Rector of Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva and chairman of the Agency's Board Vugar Behbudov. 

Before the signing ceremony, a meeting was held between the parties. Rector of Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva informed the guests about the activities of the University and the training of the Social Work specialty. Rector said that the training of the Social Work specialty at Azerbaijan University started in 2009, and the University headed by him is the first private university in which this specialty is taught. Training in the Social Work specialty was conducted by the Social Sciences Department in 2009-2015. In 2015, the Department of the Organization of Social Work was established separately. Currently, training of specialists in the Social Work specialty is carried out at all three levels of higher education. The curriculum of the specialty is highly compatible with international standards. Giving also information about the employment rate of Social Work specialty graduates, Rector expressed confidence that cooperation between the University and the Agency will be result-oriented and useful. 

The Chairman of the Agency's Board, Vugar Behbudov, says that the institution, established by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev in 2019, conducts social and psychosocial rehabilitation activities. The Agency, launched during the pandemic, serves vulnerable population groups with 29 branches and 13 social service institutions. Vugar Behbudov says that the demand for professional social workers in the country has increased, and the memorandum will create conditions for Social Work students to be prepared for their careers following the requirements of the new era. 

Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of Azerbaijan University Yusif Gasimov touched upon the importance of conducting scientific research in the field of Social Work. In this regard, he noted the establishment of the scientific magazine of Azerbaijan University, as well as ongoing preparations for the international scientific conference to be held in November. 

Tunzala Verdiyeva, head of the Organization of Social Work Department, emphasized the importance of joint cooperation in the organization of industrial practice for Social Work students.   

Organization by the Agency of trainings for university students; production and scientific-research practice programs in relevant fields in the Agency for students of the University; organization of scientific events and lectures at the international and national level, creation of conditions for the Agency to use the educational and innovative infrastructure of the University, participate in educational programs organized for University students, as well as and similar directions of cooperation are reflected in the Memorandum.
