The COP29 lectures have been started at Azerbaijan University
COP29 lectures have been started at Azerbaijan University since today. The lectures were organized in accordance with the Action Plan of Azerbaijan University regarding the 29th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 29), the sixth session of the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 19) and the sixth session of the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 6) to be hosted by Baku in November.
During the classes, the COP29 event is dealt with from different perspectives and students are informed on such topics as the energy strategy of Azerbaijan, green energy policy and green energy goals, the importance of holding the event in Azerbaijan. It is noted in the lectures that the transition to a green economy and becoming a green energy supplier is one of the priorities of Azerbaijan's economic policy. By the relevant Decree of the head of state, 2024 was declared “The year of solidarity for the sake of a green world” in our country, and the liberated regions of Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur and Nakhchivan were declared “green energy” zones. It is reported that COP29, an important international platform where the most pressing problems of the world are discussed, is a major event in the political life of the country. In November, the Azerbaijan platform will consider the processes taking place in the world, including the consequences, problems, threats and solutions caused by climate change, as well as issues related to green ideas and green programs.
The lectures, which are part of the awareness-raising work on COP29, will continue throughout the week.
