The Dean's Office of the Faculty of Business and Economics of Azerbaijan University held an event titled “Financial technologies: digital currencies as an investment tool”. Dean of the Faculty, Khanim Guliyeva, opened the event, which was attended by first-year students of the Faculty of Finance and Marketing, told about the importance of the topic and introduced speakers to the students. 

The students first listened to report of Saadat Humbataliyeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics of Sumgait State University. Guest spoke about historical development of payment instruments and stressed that digital payment methods are becoming more common nowadays. 

Then Elnur Guliyev, general manager of Joint Investment/Projects of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, editor of the Kriptoinvest.az website, spoke and informed the students about international banking, digital currencies and cryptocurrencies, as well as cyber risks. Elnur Guliyev also spoke about the history of the development of money and noted that cryptocurrencies have already become an official payment method in many countries.

The event ended with answers to questions of interest to students.
