ICT faculty dean Asif Pashayev made a report at the AKTA round table discussion

Asif Pashayev, dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies of Azerbaijan University, made a speech at the round table discussion “Cybersecurity education and cooperation” organized by the Association of Azerbaijani Cybersecurity Organizations (AKTA). The report was devoted to the topic “Organization of student-oriented education in the specialty of Information Security: cyber clubs”. In his report, the Dean informed about the concept of a student-oriented education, the benefits of a student-oriented education system for higher education institutions and students, and made practical proposals to ensure student-oriented higher education environment.

The purpose of the event is to hold roundtable discussions with the participation of representatives of higher education institutions, AKTA member companies and organizations, and relevant government agencies on the activities of cyber clubs established in higher education institutions, information security, and education in the field of cyber security, university-industry cooperation.

At the event, where 16 higher education institutions were represented, the goals and objectives established in the “Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on information security and cyber security for 2023-2027”, as well as the requirements for education in the relevant field, were brought to the attention of the participants. The importance of establishing the “Cyber Clubs Association” and ensuring cooperation with similar associations of partner foreign countries to increase the efficiency of cyberclubs operating in higher education institutions was emphasized. The participants also voiced the achievements in the educational process on information technologies, cyber security and information security, steps to be taken to improve the quality and efficiency of education in the relevant field, needs, and issues related to the activities of cyber clubs.

Taking into account the urgency of the issues discussed and the need for a more comprehensive approach to their solution, it was considered expedient by the participants to increase the number of such meetings in the future.
