Rector of Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva has met with the 1st year students of 2017/2018 academic year. The first year students, university professors, teaching staff and guests attended the event on September 15th - Knowledge Day and the beginning of the new academic year. The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce the new students to the  university life.

Rector Saadat Aliyeva opened the ceremony with a speech. Congratulating the youth on the occasion of gaining the student's name, the rector conveyed her recommendations as well: “With the help of your strength, will, knowledge and skills you were able to accomplish your target of becoming a student. I assume being successful students and graduating with high scores will be set as your goal for next four years. It is very essential for your future, career and acting as a qualified specialist in business sector as well. “It would be better if your diploma based on your knowledge, ability and skills, than just being a useless piece of paper”.

Saadat Aliyeva informed the new students about the history and activities of Azerbaijan University.  Enlightening the freshmen about the international relations of the university and exchange programs, the rector also stated that the achieved issues in these areas were focused on stimulating the personal and professional development of the students. "One of the achievements we have recently achieved is the renewal of our material and technical base. Azerbaijan University is a higher educational institution meeting modern standards. All auditoriums are provided with modern equipment”.

Saadat Aliyeva emphasized that developing professional skills of young people and raising the youth in a patriotic spirit are the themes that the higher education institution pays special attention: “I would like our young people to love Azerbaijan - our homeland, and keep its name of paramount importance.”

The rector also noted organizing efficient and engaging leisure time  activities for the students is in the center of special attention.

Culturologist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Fuad Mammadov delivered a congratulatory speech to the 1st year students. The guest quoting with great Nizami Ganjavi's lines “Strenght is within science, otherwise no one can overcome the others” in his speech, urged students to use the provided opportunities for them from the university effectively.  The professor also emphasized the importance of moral development and the solidity of mental and spiritual improvement.  

Later, Tariyel Ghani-the Head of the Education Department, congratulated the students on the occasion of September, 15 - Knowledge Day and gave detailed information about the University Policy on teaching process.

The students' questions were answered at the end of the event.
