A meeting was held at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of Azerbaijan University to discuss upcoming issues. The meeting was attended by the head of the Department, PhD in Political Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Elvin Talyshinsky, the academic staff of the Department, as well as the head of the Quality Assurance Department Lala Abasova, head of the Training Department Leyla Agamaliyeva and dean of the Faculty of Humanities Safar Mammadov. 

The monographs and discipline programs prepared by the lecturers of the Department, the organization of open classes and similar issues on the agenda were discussed at the meeting. One of the main issues of the agenda of the meeting was the preparation of educational programs and the compilation of the block of electives for majors. 

Lala Abasova, head of the Quality Assurance Department, emphasized that the electives of the specialties being taught should correspond to the requirements and needs of the labor market and appropriate measures should be taken by the departments in this regard. Also, desire of students should be taken into account in teaching of electives offered by the major. Head of the Department Elvin Talyshinsky spoke on the topic and said that negotiations were held with enterprises and organizations on the specialties being taught and meetings were planned to be organized.  

At the meeting, the monograph “Shamakhi genocide of 1918 in the documents of the Extraordinary Investigation Commission”, compiled by the lecturer of the Department, PhD in History Sabina Mammadli, was discussed and recommended for publication. Also, the discipline programs of Department lecturers such as “Political parties and election technologies” by Nigar Adilova, the “Changes Management” by Eldar Jafarov, the “Public diplomacy” by Lala Dilanova, the “Museum fund and fund work” and “Restoration and conservation of museum objects” by Sabina Mammadli were discussed and recommended for publication. 

At the end, views were exchanged on the organization of open lessons of the Department lecturers.  

It should be noted that, the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan University conducts training of specialists in International Relations, Political Science, State and Public Relations, Philosophy, Regional Studies (for European countries), History, Museum, archive work and protection of monuments on Bachelor's programs, while Ancient and medieval history of Azerbaijan, New and newest history of Azerbaijan on Master's programs.
