The lecture on “Why Social Work?” was held for first-year students studying Social work at Azerbaijan University. The lecturers Konul Aliyeva, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Social Work Union, and Zamin Zakiyev, a member of the board, presented the information about the social work, its purpose, history, foundation in Azerbaijan and areas in the lecture.

The lecture touched upon not only the work of social workers, the groups they serve, the professionalism, following the rules of professional ethics, the distinction of the social work major from other specialties, but also the establishment, activities and services of the Azerbaijan Social Work Association, and so on.
