Narmin Samidova, a second-year student of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Azerbaijan University, majoring in International Relations, has published her article entitled “Types of Terrorism and Their Role in Modern Global Security” in the 3rd issue of the international journal Vestnik Nauki (Вестник науки) for 2026. The article was prepared under the academic supervision of Sabina Mammadova, PhD in History and a lecturer at the Department of Political and Social Sciences.
The article provides a comprehensive analysis of various types of terrorism in the modern era and their impact on the global security system. Within the framework of the study, the main forms of terrorism, such as political, religious, ethnic, and cyberterrorism, are examined, and the threats these activities pose to international relations, domestic stability of states, and the regional security environment are explained on a scientific basis.
The article notes that the processes of globalization and the rapid development of information technologies have expanded both the forms and the impact of terrorist activities. In this context, terrorism is currently regarded as one of the major challenges not only for individual states but also for the international security system as a whole. The article also emphasizes the importance of strengthening international cooperation, legal mechanisms, and security strategies in combating terrorism.
