The commemorative event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held at Azerbaijan University. The National Anthem was played at the event, and the memory of the victims of the genocide was commemorated with a minute of silence.

It was noted at the event that the Azerbaijani state and people faced a number of serious trials starting from the first steps of their independence. The hardest and most terrible of these trials is the Khojaly genocide, which was carried out 32 years ago on the night of February 25-26 with special cruelty by the Armenian Armed Forces with the participation of the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment of Russia. Azerbaijan, which has been in the information blockade for many years, has been able to consistently and systematically convey its truth to the world since 2000. Within the “Justice for Khojaly” campaign launched in 2008, a lot of work has been done in the field of international exposure of the tragedy, the fact of genocide is reflected in the decisions and resolutions of many countries of the world and international organizations.

It was pointed out that the innocent victims of the Khojaly genocide were avenged on the battlefield. The tricolor flag of Azerbaijan is already flying in Khojaly. Today Mr. President Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation of the Khojaly Genocide Memorial in the city of Khojaly, met with representatives of the regional community and got acquainted with the construction works being carried out in the city. The ”Great Return” process will soon cover also Khojaly.

At the event, information was also given about the mass graves discovered in Khojaly, and the importance of commemorative events was emphasized.

In the end, the guests of the event Agameli Niftalizade, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Instrumental Performance of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, and Mahir Kazymly, a 2nd year student in the specialty of State and Public Relations of Azerbaijan University, presented a literary and artistic composition.
