Scientific-practical conference devoted to protection of purity of Azerbaijani language was held at Azerbaijan University. The event was organized jointly by the “Liberty Movement” Public Union and Azerbaijan University with the financial support of the Council for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Institute of Linguistics of ANAS.

The rector of the Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva, the professor-teaching staff and students of the university attended the event.

Chairman of the PU and head of the project, Tahmasib Novruzov, opened the conference. The head of the project underlined that our people have protected the Azerbaijani language from foreign influences for thousands of years and have risen this language to the line of the richest languages of the world. He said: "During the Soviet period, national leader Heydar Aliyev, who tirelessly and resolutely struggled with the leadership of the alliance trying to move our language into the background, always paid special attention to the development of our language and has made important historical decisions against the wishes of the regime. Two decree on the development of the Azerbaijani language were signed in the first ten years of President Ilham Aliyev's leadership in the country and the State Program in April 2013, who is a worthy successor of the Great Leader's political course that it also a proof of how much our state pays attention to this area”.

Tahmasib Novruzov noted that regular violation of the mother tongue norms on TV and radio programs, media, advertising market, trade and catering facilities is perceived by the citizens as an ordinary case. Our citizens, especially our intellectuals and young people, have to take an active role in the implementation of state programs.

Then, the documentary films "Azerbaijan Literary Language on Television Broadcastings" and "Our Language in Advertising" were produced with the financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan jointly with the "SAS TV" online TV. The film deals with the shortcomings in the use of the mother tongue and the factors that undermine the cleanliness of the tongue.

Later, an employee of the Linguistics Institute of ANAS, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Rasim Heydarov, People's Artists Ofelya Sanani, Eldost Bayram, Vice-rector on Scientific Affairs, Professor Yusif Gasimov, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, Associate Professor Ulviya Rahimova made a speech about the purity of the role of society in the protection, the existing defects and ways to overcome them.
