An event titled "Skills is unimpeded!" dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities took place at the Azerbaijan University on December 3.

The event was opened by the head of the Department of Social Work Aygun Musayeva. She noted that the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. Head of the Department noted that the subject of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities for 2018 was selected as "Strengthening of persons with disabilities, their inclusion and equality".

President of the Paralympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilgar Rahimov spoke about the history, activity and achievements of the Committee. He said that today disabled people in our country find ways to grow in any area, and sport is considered as the first in this sphere. Speaking about the Paralympic achievements, Ilgar Rahimov thanked the university administration for organizing the event.

The chairman, Nigar Sultanova of  the organization ” Dance Ability Azerbaijan” that was created to connect people with and without disabilities through dance classes, delivered a speech on topic  "Integral dance and its philosophy". She noted that the goal of the dance is to show that everyone is equal in society regardless of the differences in mental and physical opportunities.

First Vice-President of the Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan Natiq Gasimov, Secretary General of the Committee Kamal Mammadov and Disabled Cycling Club Chairman Amid Hasanguliyev attended the event. The rector of Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva and the delegation watched the event.

Guests and event participants watched the dance of members of “Dance Ability Azerbaijan”, dancers, people with disabilities together with the students of the University of Azerbaijan.
