A report meeting dedicated to the results of scientific activities in 2021 was held at Azerbaijan University. Saadat Aliyeva, the rector of the University said at the meeting that 2021 was very productive in terms of scientific activities and informed about the tasks for the following period.

The report on research works was presented by Yusif Gasimov, Vice-Rector for Research work, Doctor of Mathematical Sciences. The report covered scientific activities held at the university, reports of international and national conferences, the activities of the scientific journal "Silk Road", international scientific cooperation, published papers.

It was stated in the report that the year of 2021 was marked by a number of significant events in the scientific life of Azerbaijan University. Thus, by the order of Emin Amrullayev, the Minister of Education, dated July 15, 2021, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the University, a group of employees of Azerbaijan University were awarded the badge "Leading Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan", “Certificate of Honour of Ministry of Education” and “A letter of Gratitude of the Ministry of Education”. This order of the Minister of Education is a great stimulus for more efficient and productive activity of the university staff.

The report also stated that 3 international and 1 national level scientific conferences were held at Azerbaijan University in the reporting year. The materials of all the conferences were published in a collective form and presented to the conference participants. More than 150 reports representing all higher educational institutions, research institutes and institutions of the republic were heard at the IV Republican Scientific Conference of young researchers held on April 9, 2021. At the Plenary of the international conference "Nizami Ganjavi's works as a literary and historical source" held on May 7, 2021, Kamran Talatoff, professor of the University of Arizona, Matthew R. Hotham, professor of Ball State University, and Gorkhmaz Guliyev, professor of Azerbaijan University, delivered a plenary report. On October 22, 2021, the international conference "Information security: problems and prospects" was held jointly with Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics of Ukraine. The plenary speakers of the mentioned conference were Aleksandr Lemeshko, professor of Kharkiv National Radioelectronics University, and Sedat Akleylek, associate professor of Ondokuz Mayıs University of Turkey. The last scientific conference of 2021 was organized on November 19, 2021, in cooperation with Middlesex University of Great Britain. At the Plenary of the International Conference "Gender Problems and Modern Azerbaijan", Professor Rena Mirzazade ,the department head of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, delivered a report on "The gender factor of the homeland war and the pandemic".

In 2021, 4 issues and 1 special issue of the scientific journal "Silk Road" were published. The special issue of "Karabakh is Azerbaijan" is dedicated to the history of Karabakh, which is an integral part of Azerbaijan, and the great victory of our

victorious army over the Armenian occupying forces. The 2nd issue of the journal of 2021 is dedicated to the genius poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi, and the journal includes articles dedicated to his work. The 3rd issue of the journal published in 2021 is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan University.

It was stated in the report that in the reporting year, the employees of the Tuscia University of Italy, Ton Duc Thang University of Vietnam, University of South Africa of the Republic of South Africa, University of Tabriz , Iran, University of Victoria of Canada, UNNE, FaCENA of Argentina ”, China Medical University, Abdul Wali Khan University of Pakistan, Prince of Songkla University of Thailand, School of Basic and Applied Sciences of India and Aligarh Muslim University conducted joint scientific research works and consequently, joint scientific articles were published.

In the report, it was mentioned that as a new direction of cooperation with Ukraine Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics, a joint teaching-research laboratory on information security was established at Azerbaijan University in October 2021.

In the vice-rector's report, Rector Saadat Aliyeva's guidelines regarding the efficient organization of scientific activity at the university and encouraging employees to scientific research activities were brought to attention. The report stated that in the reporting year, university employees published 64 articles in scientific journals published in Azerbaijan, and 110 in scientific journals published abroad, of which 108 were indexed journals. 43 of these articles were published in

Q1 category, 38 in Q2 category, 8 in Q3 category, 17 in ESCI category, and 2 were published only in Scopus databases.

In the report, it was mentioned that 5 monographs, 1 textbook, 2 teaching aids, 97 programs and methodical aids and 65 theses were printed in the reporting year.

In the report, it was emphasized that three articles of university employees were listed as the most cited articles in 2021 on the Web of Science (Clavirate Analytics) database. In 2021, 859 references were made to articles published by employees of Azerbaijan University in indexed journals in such journals. As a result of all mentioned, the university's H index, determined on the basis of the Web of Science database of the Clavirate Analytics Agency, increased from 9 to 19 in 2021.

At the report meeting, the table of points compiled for the evaluation of scientific activity by departments and the names of the employees who scored the most points according to the system of evaluation of scientific and research activity applied in the university were also presented. It was reported that the authors of the articles published in indexed journals were awarded due to "On encouraging colleagues to be engaged in scientific research", the guideline of the rector of Azerbaijan University .
