The event named “A poet burning in his own fire” dedicated to the 110^th jubilee of Mikayil Mushfig, the outstanding representative of XX century Azerbaijan poetry, has been held in the university.

The information on the creativity and brief life path of the outstanding poet has been given; literary part from his creativity has been presented in the event held with the organization of the chair of Azerbaijani language and literature. It was highlighted that the name of “Chaghlayan” journal reflecting the activity of Azerbaijan University has not chosen randomly. It is the name of the last, unprinted book of unforgettable poet Mikayil Mushfig.

The speech of Ulviyye Rahimova, the chief of the chair has been dedicated to the position of Mikayil Mushfig in Azerbaijani literature. The chief of the chair has stated that the 29 years-old outstanding poet, the victim of repression, has created rich literary inheritance in a short time. The ones killed him by the judgment of the court lasting totally 15-20 minutes by sentencing him to death, could not erase him from the memory of Azerbaijani people and Azerbaijani literature Ulviyye Rahimova said: “The pathos, overflowing passion, life love of Mikayil Musfig was not extinguished even in his last moment before the death. H.Javid has determined his future fate by saying on the unforgettable poet “Mushfig is such a poet that he will burn himself””.

After that the chief of the chair expressed her/his gratitude to the participants and the guests of the event.

The professor of the chair Asif Hajiyev has given information on the literary features of the Mushfig poetry; highlighted the different points of his life rich in the tragic moments in his speech. Asif Hajiyev has stated that the creativity of Mikayil Mushfig which has gained great reputation in the literary environment in a short time has been evaluated highly by the outstanding representatives of Azerbaijani literature such as Huseyn Javid, Samad Vurghun. Each outstanding representative of Azerbaijani literature has specific image formed in the memories. If Fuzuli is philosopher, Nizami is the symbol of wisdom. Mikayil Mushfig is the symbol of ill-fatedness and tragicisim in addition to holiness and beauty. Since the last 4-5 years of his very short life passed under the moral terror. The moral terror resulted in physical terror. He got acquitted in 1956.

In the literary part of the event the students Rifat Aliyev, Chichak Pashazade and Sarvan Aliyev sang the songs of “Mahabbat”, “Soyla”, “Dilbarim”, “Yasha mahabbatim” and “Sana gurban” written to the words of Mikayil Mushfig. Aytakin Karimova, Mahabbat Azadov, Lamiya Najafova, Aynura Heydarova, Narmin Mammadli, Rana Karimova and Farana Mikayilova performed the poems of “Hayat sevgisi”, “Sanin gulushlarin”, “Rassam”, “Kusmaram”, “Konlumu”, “Ana”, “Oxu tar”, “Bakhtiyar”, “Yena o bagh olaydi”, qoshma of “Yadima dushdu”.

The event has been organized upon the relevant Order signed by the Republic of Azerbaijan “On celebrating 110^th jubilee of Mikayil Mushfig”. The students have prepared for the event under the leadership of Amina Ibrahimli, the assistant professor of the chair.
