At Azerbaijan University was held a literary-musical event dedicated to the memory of the prominent composer Uzeyir Hajibayov. In the event organized by the Youth Talents’ Union were performed romances, pieces and dances from the composer’s works. 

Having opened the event with the opening speech, the head of the Department of Azerbaijani language and literature Ulviyya Rahimova emphasized the role and place of the Uzeyir Hajibayov’s cultural heritage in the Azerbaijani music. The head of the department pointed out, the national content and universal values are used in concert in the works of the eminent composer. Uzeyir Hajibayov’s works have reflected the national values of Azerbaijan which characterizes him a different way among the well-known composers of the world like Chopin and Mozart.

In the event the students Vafa Akhundova (English language translation, IV year), Sarvan Aliyev (Philology, II year), Farana Mikayilova (Philology, II year), Tosif Javidli (Social work, IV year), Aygul Guliyeva (Philology, IV year), Farid Shabanzada (Public and municipality administration, IV year) performed “Sansiz”, “Sevgili janan” romances, and pieces and dances from “Arshin mal alan” and “O olmasin, bu olsun” musical comedies of the composer. 

The rector of the university Saadat Aliyeva also watched the event. The rector emphasized the importance of commemorating the notable figures of Azerbaijan at university and wished success to the young talented students.

The students have been prepared for the musical event with the guidance of the teacher of the department of the Azerbaijani language and literature Amina Ibrahimli.
