Khojaly genocide commemorated at Azerbaijan University

A commemorative event dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held jointly with Azerbaijani University and the Nasimi District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP). Prior to the event, rector of Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva and the chairman of the NAP Nasimi district, Member of Parlament Malahat Ibrahimgizi viewed a photo exhibition " Khojaly Genocide in the lens " dedicated to the victims of the genocide.

At the commemorative event, the memory of the martyrs of Khojali genocide and the martyrs who died in the name of territorial integrity and independence of Azerbaijan were commemorated with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem was played.

Vice-rector for scientific affairs of Azerbaijan University, prof. Yusif Gasimov in his opening speech, noted that the tragedies experienced by the Azerbaijani people over the last 30-35 years have not broken or destroyed the Azerbaijani people, but made them stronger and wiser. It is our duty to honor the victims of the Khojaly tragedy, but it should not be our ultimate goal. Our ultimate and major goal should be to rejoice their troubled spirit in what we do.

In her speech, MP Malahat Ibrahimgizi spoke about the political, economic and military advantages of Azerbaijan over the occupying Armenia. She said that in accordance with international law, Armenia has been fully proved to be an aggressor state. The extent of Azerbaijan's diplomatic advantage over Armenia is expanding every day.

In his speech, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Sciences Boran Aziz said that the Khojaly genocide was not the result of unintentional and sudden actions. What happened in Khojaly on the night of February 25-26, 1992 was a planned, prepared and carried out military operation against the Azerbaijani people. We must do our best to strengthen our arguments in the negotiations held

by our country abroad in order to properly punish the ideologists, organizers and executors of the tragedy.

The information about the "Justice campaign and results for Khojaly" was given at the event .

Khazan Amirova who was one of the live witnesses of the Khojaly genocide, who was 7 years old at that night, and whose father was burned in front of her eyes also presented at the commemorative event.

At the end of the event, the participants watched the film "Khojaly - a night of darkness", a new project of the chairman of the Public Union for the Promotion of Armenian Aggression, publicist Sariya Muslimgizi.The film was made with the financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
