Memorial event dedicated to Khojaly Genocide was held at Azerbaijan University

Azerbaijan University held a memorial event dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The memory of the Khojaly martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence and the work done for the international recognition of the Khojaly genocide was reported.

Rector of the University, Saadat Aliyeva, spoke about the tragic consequences of the tragedy, saying how Khojaly was destroyed by night and hundreds of innocent civilians regardless to women, children and elderly were cruelly killed 27 years ago. Noting the importance of the ideological propaganda for the tragedy to be delivered to the international community and its international recognition, the rector said that the “Justice for Khojaly!” campaign, initiated by the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, has already given concrete results.

The guest speaker, writer, publicist, journalist, veteran of Garabagh War, chairman of Public Association Recognizing Armenian Aggression, Sariyya Muslim gizi, spoke on the subject of "The Eyewitnesses of the Khojaly Genocide" and shared the story she experienced and witnessed at the night of tragedy with the participants. The guest called on the students to be active and organized in the information war saying she is working hard to promote the genocide on the international scale and that she has prepared four documentary films so far.

In his speech, associate professor of the Department of Social Sciences Boran Aziz mentioned that Khojaly genocide is a joint crime of Russian political and military power with Armenian separatism and cruelty. Boran Aziz not only emphasized the propaganda, but also the importance of learning of the genocide and  he gave information about the books he wrote in this direction.

In the end ef the event, the participants watched the film "8 Families Killed In Khojaly" dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The documentary was filmed by the Public Union for the “Presentation of the Armenian Aggression” with the financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of Azerbaijan Republic. The film tells about the genocide committed by Armenian invaders against the peaceful Azerbaijanis in Khojaly on February 25-26, 1992.

Throughout the day, there was a demonstration of the film "Khoja" for the university students in the assembly and conference halls.
