Azerbaijan University has achieved another success in accordance with the requirements given to higher education institutions for gaining the "Research University" status approved by the Cabinet of Ministers in December 2017. Thus, 2 scientific research projects of the university staff are the winners of the "Science-Education Integration" grant competition announced by the Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Project on "Development of Solution Methods for inverse and identification issues in case of incomplete observed information" will be headed by the Vice-rector for Science of Azerbaijan University, Prof. Yusif Gasimov. In the project, Azerbaijan University will be represented by the Head of the Department of Science, PhD Latifa Aghamaliyeva as well. The project financing is 50,000 AZN, and the partners are ANAS Institute of Control Systems and Baku State University.

The project on "Mutual relationships of Folklore and Written Literature (Independence Period)" will be implemented jointly with Azerbaijan University and ANAS Institute of Folklore. The head of the project is the Chair of the Institute of Folklore and Written Literature, Professor Kamran Aliyev and the co-director is the Head of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature Department of Azerbaijan University, Associate Professor Ulviyya Rahimova. Professor Gorkhmaz Guliyev will represent Azerbaijan University in the scientific-research project. The volume of the project financing is 40,000 AZN, including book publishing.

Note that achieving research-oriented university goals was defined as one of the priority objectives by the rector of Azerbaijan University Saadat Aliyeva in the meeting dedicated to the outcomes of 2017. Starting from the early days of 2018 the University has been conducting purposeful work in this direction in accordance with the criteria of the "Research University" status. Raising the academic credibility of the university, stimulating measures are being implemented to better use the scientific potential of the professor-teacher staff.
