Students of Azerbaijan University participated in the 9th all-republic knowledge competition “Heydar Aliyev and the history of Azerbaijan” held at the Heydar Aliyev Center. The goal of the project, which has become traditional, is to research, study and promote the history of Azerbaijan, the life, multifaceted activities and legacy of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the 100th anniversary of whose birth is celebrated this year.

Competition, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Center and supported by the Ministry of Science and Education, which took place on October 18 – on the Day of Restoration of Independence, was attended by teams from 50 higher education institutions of the country. Each higher education institution was represented by a team of 6 people.

A video reflecting Heydar Aliyev's meetings with young people, important recommendations of the great leader to them and the continuation of the Heydar Aliyev path by President Ilham Aliyev was first demonstrated in the knowledge competition. Then the participants tested their knowledge on such topics as “Heydar Aliyev's childhood and youth”, “Heydar Aliyev and the years of independence of Azerbaijan”, “Heydar Aliyev and the truths of Karabakh”, “Triumphal March of the Azerbaijani army in the Patriotic War” and etc.

According to the jury's assessment, the teams that took the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were awarded. The team of Azerbaijan University consisting of Alaga Azizli, Fidan Sarayeva, Emil Muradly, Said Mammadov, Shovkat Aliyeva and Seljan Mammadova finished the competition with high results and took 8th place in the top ten.

It should be noted that the all-republic knowledge competition “Heydar Aliyev and the history of Azerbaijan” has been held annually since 2014. At the stage of preparation for the competition, the teams take part in the trainings organized at the Heydar Aliyev Center, get acquainted with the archival materials stored in the Heydar Aliyev Museum.
