Azerbaijan University was represented at the 1st meeting of tourism higher education institutions from the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) member states, held in Baku. The Head of the Finance and Accounting Department, Nariman Boyukkishi, and the Department lecturers Gahraman Yusupov and Ziynat Mehdiyeva participated in panel and roundtable sessions during the event.

The two-day event was held at the joint initiative of the State Tourism Agency and the BSEC to discuss cooperation, prospects, and challenges of tourism education. The meeting was attended by government officials and representatives of tourism education institutions from 11 member states, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Albania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine, as well as the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

As part of the meeting, the first day of the event involved panel discussions on topics ‘State, Education, and Industry Coordination: Best Practices in Tourism Education,’ ‘Curriculum Design: Improving Tourism Education for Future Demand,’ and a roundtable discussion of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Tourism Education. The sessions were focused on identifying key collaboration areas and partnership opportunities, discussing problems in promoting collaboration and potential solutions, and exchanging ideas on the ways to prepare graduates for the tourism sector's demands, analyzing industry trends, and integrating them into curricula.

On the second day of the event, roundtable sessions were arranged to expand the partnership opportunities of the organization's member states in tourism education.
