The fourth training under the COP29 Simulation Project was arranged at Azerbaijan University. The hybrid training, moderated jointly by the Head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Humanities, Elvin Talishinski, and the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Khanim Guliyeva, featured speeches by experts from Turkey and Azerbaijan, addressing the Project participants.

PhD in Economics from the Institute of Social Sciences of Turkish Kocaeli University, M. Sami Akkush, spoke about the financial consequences of environmental taxes, climate change, and transfer to green technology as part of macroeconomic policies. Then, the Head of Department at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, PhD in Philosophy, Mahammad Jabrayilov, made a presentation on the topic, ‘The Risk of Surviving the Global Ecological Crisis: Azerbaijan's Struggle for a Green World.’

It was no coincidence that the fourth training was held on April 22, International Earth Day and the anniversary of signing the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement (regulating carbon sequestration measures starting from 2020 based on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change) was prepared at the Paris Climate Conference to replace the Kyoto Protocol and signed on April 22, 2016. This date is significant for these two reasons.

It should be noted that the COP29 Simulation Project involving students from various higher education institutions has been arranged as part of COP29 (the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change), hosted by Azerbaijan, and the Green World Solidarity Year. The Project is aimed at informing students of the aforementioned international event and the consequences and impact of political decisions of states on the environment and our planet, and developing their skills in public speaking, formulating arguments, and performing debates.
