A scientific seminar dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of Mahammad Amin Rasulzade, a prominent public and political figure, one of the founders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, chairman of the National Council of Azerbaijan, on the topic “Personality and Philosophical-Political Views of Mahammad Amin Rasulzade” was held at Azerbaijan University under the organization of the Department of Political and Social Sciences. At the beginning of the event, a brief biographical overview of Mahammad Amin Rasulzade was presented, followed by a video clip dedicated to his life and accomplishments. It was noted that the legacy of Mahammad Amin Rasulzade plays a significant role in the history of Azerbaijan's public thought, and it should be carefully studied and promoted.

In his opening remarks, the head of the Department, PhD in Political Sciences Elvin Talyshinski noted that the events dedicated to the life and activities of prominent personalities, public and political figures have become traditional at Azerbaijan University which demonstrates a commitment to the traditions of statehood.

Leading researcher of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, PhD in philosophy Faig Alakbarov's report on “The place and role of Mahammad Amin Rasulzade in the history of socio-political and philosophical thought of Azerbaijan in the 20th century”, as well as the speeches of Gabil Aliyev, professor of the Department of Political and Social Sciences of Azerbaijan University, and Gurban Mammadov, associate professor of the Department, on the subject of the scientific seminar, were heard.

After the reports and speeches, topics such as the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the assignment of the name “Azerbaijan” to the first Republic of the Muslim East, founded in May 1918, Mahammad Amin Rasulzade's attitude towards German fascism, biased literature created during Soviet times about the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the transfer of the city of Yerevan to Armenians as a political center, and similar topics were discussed at the scientific seminar.

It is worth noting that the scientific seminar was organized based on the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev “On the celebration of the 140th Anniversary of Mahammad Amin Rasulzade” dated December 30, 2023.
