The 1st International Scientific Conference: Global Challenges and the Turkic World was held at Azerbaijan University. The conference initiated by Azerbaijan University and co-organized by International Dublin University, the Ege University, Bitlis Eren University, Trakya University of Turkey, Urgench State Pedagogical Institute of Uzbekistan, Russian Research Institute of Economics, Politics and Law, University of Mindanao and the BZT Academy is dedicated to the history, culture and study of geopolitical situation of the Turkic world in the modern era.
120 reports from 6 countries were accepted for the conference. In order to ensure accessibility, the conference was held in a hybrid format.
Opening the conference with an introductory speech, Head of the Political Sciences Department of Azerbaijan University, Ph.D in Political Sciences Elvin Talyshinsky noted that friendship and fraternal ties between the Turkic states have ancient historical roots. Deepening of the strategic partnership will contribute greatly to the establishment of peace in the region and the world.
As noted by Vice-rector for Scientific Affairs of Azerbaijan University, Doctor of Mathematical Sciences Yusif Gasimov, relations between the Turkic states are experiencing the highest stage of the last 30 years and are developing in an ascending line. Efforts to strengthen scientific ties should be further increased. Geopolitical changes taking place in and the new challenges of the globalizing world have necessitated the Turkish states to interact effectively and act from a unified position.
Upon the opening ceremony, reports of Joni Kvitsiani, Professor of Tbilisi State University, on “The problem of historical heritage influence on socio-political processes in the modern Caucasus”, Jumanazar Yarmetov, Rector of Urgench State Pedagogical Institute of Uzbekistan, on “Issues of scientific cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan”, Hüsamettin Inaç, Professor of Kutahya Dumlupinar University of Turkey, on “Organization of Turkic states and the new world order” were heard.
After the plenary session, the conference continued its work with presentation of reports. During the course of the day, contribution of the Turkic states and peoples to the world history and cultural heritage, prospects of new geopolitical situation created by Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus, economic relations between Turkic states and peoples, establishment and work done by the Organization of Turkic States, important tasks facing the Turkic peoples in the modern era, mechanisms of cooperation of Turkic states, deepening of the allied relations of Turkic states, the second Karabakh War and realities of the next stage and such topical issues were discussed and exchanged views.
