On the initiative of the Department of Political and Social Sciences of Azerbaijan University, an event dedicated to June 26 - Armed Forces Day was held on “Ilham Aliyev and the policy of army building in modern Azerbaijan”. 

The National Anthem was played at the event, and the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Then the head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences, PhD in Political Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Elvin Talyshinsky said that the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan with a strong material and technical base and high combat capability were formed as a result of consistent, rational and purposeful political strategy implemented by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev. In particular, the liberation of our lands under Armenian occupation for nearly 30 years, the unification of the Azerbaijani people and soldiers around the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, like a fist and opening a new and bright page in the history of the World War, proves that the army building was carried out at a high level. “All this is the result of the wise and far-sighted policy of President Ilham Aliyev,” the head of the Department pointed out.

Then the lecturer of the Department Samir Humbatov made a report on the impact of defense capability in the foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his report, Samir Humbatov stressed that thanks to the attention and care of great leader Heydar Aliyev and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have rapidly become the strongest army in the region.
