Azerbaijan University hosted a regular event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The event, organized by the Department of Social Work Organization, was dedicated to the topic “The role of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the formation of social policy in Azerbaijan”.

The event was opened with an introduction by Tunzala Verdiyeva, PhD in Pedagogy, head of the Department. Head of the Department reminded the audience that the event was organized in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 29, 2022 on declaring 2023 the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the Republic of Azerbaijan and in accordance with the action plan of Azerbaijan University to be implemented within the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”. Tunzala Verdiyeva noted that Heydar Aliyev's services to the Azerbaijani people are multifaceted and unique. The great leader left a legacy of a democratic and legal state to the people of Azerbaijan. Achieving a fair and humane social policy was the main principle of his social policy.

Then, Professor of the department, member of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the “Social Rights Research” Public Union, Mayis Aliyev, spoke on the topic “Heydar Aliyev's social protection strategy”. Mayis Aliyev said that in the strategic program of national leader Heydar Aliyev for the future, constant strengthening of social protection and increasing the social welfare of the Azerbaijani people was set as the main goal.

The speech of Nigar Shahhuseynbayova, a lecturer of the Department of Social Work Organization, was devoted to the topic “Protection of women's rights as one of the priorities of Heydar Aliyev's social policy”. Nigar Shahhuseynbayova emphasized that Heydar Aliyev paid special attention to women's problems during all periods of his leadership in Azerbaijan and became a defender of their rights.

Halima Mammadova, Head of the Student Affairs Department, briefed the participants about state support for social protection of vulnerable student contingent. She noted that his worthy successor, the head of state, Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, always pays attention to protection of students belonging to the vulnerable group. Tarana Valiyeva, the

Chairman of the “Social and economic support for Startup projects” Public Union spoke on “Heydar Aliyev's role in the social protection of persons with disabilities”.

The event continued with discussions on the topic.
