An event on the topic “The legacy of Heydar Aliyev in the strategy of economic development of Azerbaijan” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Business and Economics Faculty of Azerbaijan University. Deputy Director of the Center for Correspondence and Additional Education of Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Chairman of the Council of Women of the University, Doctor of Economics Tarana Karimova addressed the students at the event.

The guest noted that the merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev to the Azerbaijani state and people are exceptional. The Azerbaijani people can consider themselves lucky that such a leader as Heydar Aliyev led our country in a rather difficult and controdictory period, and thanks to his tireless activity and hard work, Azerbaijan embarked on the path of rapid development.

In her speech, Tarana Karimova touched upon such topics as achieving progress through reforms in the country's economy during the reign of Heydar Aliyev, strengthening the economic foundations of the Azerbaijani state, and formation of a market economy. She emphasized that as a result of the implemented reforms, the recession that occurred in the first years of independence was successfully prevented, and since 1995, a new stage of development, that is, a period of recovery and dynamic progress has begun in Azerbaijan. These achievements have laid a solid foundation for the sustainable and dynamic development of the country's economy in subsequent years. The socio-economic policy of Heydar Aliyev, the author of the national development model of Azerbaijan, is being successfully continued and enriched with new shades by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
