Today, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the important event in our history - the establishment of the first parliamentary republic in the East and in the Turkish-Islamic world - the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, declared in Tbilisi on May 28, 1918 was remembered as one of the most glorious pages of our history.

The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, honoring its historic mission in tense and complicated socio-political conditions, has left an indelible mark in the history of national statehood with its rich state-building experience. Strengthening the freedom and self-esteem in the hearts of the people has created a solid foundation for the future independence of our republic.

Restoring its independence in the late 20th century, the Republic of Azerbaijan was established on the historical legacy, as a political heir of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, it has accepted the flag, the emblem and the hymn of the ADR. The Declaration of Independence was proclaimed on May 28 which is now celebrated as the Republic Day in our country.

According to the order of the President, 2018 has been proclaimed "The Year of the ADR". The activity of the founders of the ADR has always been highly appreciated and memories have been perpetuated.
