Preliminary discussion of doctorate Gulnar Rzayeva's dissertation «Artistic manifestation of counterculture in Jack Kerouac's creativity» was held in an open session of the Azerbaijani language and literature department of Azerbaijan University. Playing very important role in the humanitarian thought of America «counterculture» the famous novel «On the Road» considered a defining work of counterculture generations.

Teachers and professors of the university also attended the session which was led by the head of the Azerbaijani language and literature department, docent Ulviyya Ragimova. The supervisor of doctorate is Professor Gorkhmaz Guliyev. The applicant was introduced and her scientific-pedagogical activity was informed by the head of department. The applicant gave information about the actuality of subject, scientific innovation, purpose and duties of the work, meanwhile, the subject essence and result of the dissertation were presented to the attendants.

Afterwards, professor-teacher staff of the department discussed the presentd dissertation, made statements and gave instructions. The supervisor Professor Gorkhmaz Guliyev spoke about the importance of the work for Azerbaijan literature. Prof. Asif Hajiyev, Prof. Kamran Aliyev, doc. Ulviyya Aliyeva made speeches and emphasized the scientific importance of the dissertation.

The preliminary discussion ended with the decision of the attendants about the admission of applicant to the next stage. It was remarked that the dissertation responded to the requirements and recommended for the defense.
