A lecture dedicated to Ahmed bey Agaoglu was organized at Azerbaijan University

A lecture dedicated to the Azerbaijani public figure, the thinker who left a deep mark in the history of literary and aesthetic thought Ahmed bey Agaoglu was organized for philology students at Azerbaijan University. The lecture was delivered by Professor Bedirkhan Akhmedov - a scientist, specialist in literature, doctor of philological sciences, Head of the Department of "Azerbaijan-Asiatic Literary Relations" of ANAS Institute of Literature named after Nizami.

Professor Bedirkhan Akhmedov informed the students about Azerbaijani and Turkish public figure, politician, journalist, writer Ahmed bey Agaoglu`s various stages of life and work, and displayed his portrait as well. The lecture covered topics such as the social and political process, accompanied by important and significant events in the history of Azerbaijan at the beginning of the twentieth century, changes in society from the point of view of literary and aesthetic thought, the period of Ahmed bey Agaoglu’s education at Shusha real school, his student years in France, literary, social and journalistic activities in the first decades of the last century, his role in creating the organization "Difai", his involvement in the public environment of Istanbul in Turkey in 1909, his arrival in Ganja as an adviser to Nuri Pasha in 1918, activities during the period of the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan, life in exile in Malta, his role in the public and political life of the Republic of Turkey, relations with Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, thoughts related to Islam and Turkism .

The lecture was organized by the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, based on the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev on the 150th anniversary of Ahmed bey Agaoglu. In the event Dean of the Faculty of Humanitarian Disciplines Safar Mammadov, head of the department Ulviyya Ragimova, and teaching staff of the department also took part.
