An event dedicated to the Day of Restoration of independence was held at Azerbaijan University.An event was organized in an online format in accordance with the pandemic tradition.

It was noted at the event organized by the Department Of Social Sciences that 30 years ago, On October 18,1991,the Supreme Soviet adopted a Constitutional Act “On state Independence Of the Republic of Azerbaijan “ .The Constitutional Act emphasizes that Azerbaijan is the successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic ,which existed from May 28, 1918 to April 28, 1920.It was noted that our people, which declared its independence in the 20 th century ,was subjected to difficult tests in order to preserve it until it was achieved.Azerbaijan achieved its true independence after 30 years of intense struggle and the Great Victory over the enemy a year ago.Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and historical justice have been restored.

The speeches focused on the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic ,the Soviet occupation and the modern era of Azerbaijan ,and looked at the dangers faced by our country in the first year of independence.Information was provided on the historical services of national leader Heydar Aliyev in preventing the threat of loss of independence, and the achivements of our country since 2003 under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.It was noted that the Great Victory created new realities in the region and in the world.

It was noted at the event that according to the bill adopted by the Milli Majlis in the second reading, May 28 was renamed the Independence Day,and October 18 was renamed the Day of Restoration of Independence.
