Professor of Azerbaijan University Asif Hajiyev's extensive article on "Folklore-literary syncretism and genre typology of deportation folklore of Meskhetian Turks" presented at the XXVII International Conference "Dmitriyev readings" held by the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University (MSU) named after M.V. Lomonosov, published in the 13th issue of the collection of "Issues of Turkish Philology".

Turkish exile folklore and literature was nominated and substantiated as a special literary aesthetic concept and topical scientific issue in Asif Hajiyev's article which was attended by turklogists from different countries with the personal invitation of the conference organizers. Historical-political and literary-aesthetic sources, functional, semantic, structural features, genre typology, theme and content, narrative and stylistic peculiarities of the exile folklore of the Meskhetian Turks were investigated. Folklore and literary texts of the Meskhetian Turks which were collected by Asif Hajiyev, the author of the first articles and books on the ethnic culture and folklore of the Meskhetian Turks, since the mid-1980s were analyzed in the article. The speaker indicated that the exiled folklore of the Meskhetian Turks, deported from their homeland by the Soviet regime in 1944 and now living in more than a dozen countries around the world, plays a crucial role in preserving the national identity, historical memory and ethnic culture of this community.

However, under the conditions of deportation, radical heuristic, functional, typological, poetic changes took place in folklore, the criteria of oral and written

activity, folklore and literature merged, and the literary-aesthetic, socio-psychological, ethno-cultural, ethno-pedagogical and other functions of folk art expanded. Along with the realities of exile of the Meskhetian Turks living in Azerbaijan, the realities of Azerbaijan, especially the themes related to the Karabakh war, and the influence of Azerbaijani literature also played an important role. The author analyzing the functional aspects, poetic features, ideological-thematic, genre, style, narrative, compositional features of the exile folklore of the Meskhetian Turks, including theoretical and methodological thesis for the comparative study of similar texts of Azerbaijani and Crimean Turks, Karachay, Balkars and Urums.
